A Completed Domain Name Surrender Form

A pdf file of a completed surrender form is available.

Notes for Completing Sections

Section 1 Domain Name(s)

This section asks for the domain name(s) you wish to cancel. For example, test.co.uk, example.org.uk.

Section 2 Current Registrant Name Confirmation

You need to check that the registrant of the domain name(s) is listed correctly. A correct registrant should be listed as follows:

  • For a Limited or Public Limited Company (LTD or PLC), the registrant name should be the full company name, with Ltd or Plc at the end. For example, Marples and Sons Ltd, not just 'Marples'.
  • For a Limited Liability Partnership (LLP), the registered partnership name listed at Companies House should be given.
  • For an unregistered partnership or an unincorporated business, the name should be the two main partners' names or the proprietor's name trading as the business name. For example, John Marples and Peter Marples t/a Marples Decorators. If there are more than two partners, then 'and others' should be added to the two partners' names. For example, John Marples, Peter Marples and others t/a Marples Decorators.
  • If the registrant is an individual, they should give their full legal name. For example, John William Marples.
  • For any other organisation, the full name should be given.

The WHOIS search facility will enable you to identify the current registrant. This can be found on our home page.

Please note that only domain names registered to the same registrant name may be cancelled on one form. If the registrant name differs then separate forms will need to be completed.

Section 3 Current Registrant Address

Please enter the current address for the registrant.

If your postal address has changed since you registered the domain name, you will need to confirm the previous address on a separate sheet. This could be on the letterhead if the registrant is a business or on an additional sheet of paper if the registrant is an individual.

Section 4 Current Registrant Type

You need to select which type of entity the registrant is, for example, if the registrant is Marples and Sons Ltd then the registrant type would be 'UK registered company'. Depending on which type of registrant you select you may be required to supply additional information. For example, if you have chosen 'UK registered company' you will need to select LTD or PLC and enter the company registered number.

Section 5 Registrant Declaration

This section is where you confirm and agree that the information you are providing is true and correct. This section also allows Nominet to reverse the transaction if it is proven that the request to cancel is malicious or fraudulent.

Please read the declaration carefully before signing.

Reason for Providing Letterhead or ID

We request a piece of blank letterhead or identification, depending on the registrant type, for authentication purposes.
