We are experiencing a delay in the processing of DNS updates to the second level domains we manage (co.uk, org.uk, net.uk, plc.uk, me.uk, ltd.uk, sch.uk).

The last updates processed were at 11:27am on 19th September 2008. Our systems are currently working through the backlog and we are investigating the cause of the delay.

You may continue to submit new DNS updates, which will be added to the queue. However please avoid resubmitting DNS updates you have already sent as this will add to the backlog unnecessarily.

[Closed] - WHOIS and DAC Outage 29/07/08

We periodically introduce new software releases as part of our rolling program of continuous service improvement. These releases almost always involve the modification of objects within our database. During yesterdays release an object in the registry database that DAC and WHOIS rely on underwent a change that rendered those services unavailable for approximately 12 minutes. We do test our software releases rigorously prior to deploying them, but there are many dependencies within the database. Unfortunately, this time we missed the fact that the changes made during the release would affect DAC and WHOIS. As a result of this outage we are introducing changes that will alert us to these dependencies during the development phase. We apologise for the inconvenience caused by the interruption to service yesterday.

We apologise for an unplanned outage on the WHOIS between 0857 and 0909 today, Tuesday 29 July 2008. This occurred during a previously announced upgrade to our systems which provides new functionality, particularly for the DRS. We did test this new software release thoroughly before the upgrade, but did not expect any downtime on the WHOIS or DAC. We will investigate the cause of this outage and report our results when we find them.
